Adam Pelko witnessed the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that killed his father, a lieutenant on the USS Arizona. Even though Adam is underage, he defies his mother's wishes and enlists in the Marines. Sent first to boot camp, then to Okinawa, he experiences the stark reality of war firsthand — the camaraderie and the glory as well as the grueling regimen, the paralyzing fear, and death. And at every turn, Adam must confront memories of his father.
In the concluding volume of his World War II trilogy, Harry Mazer masterfully illustrates Adam's journey as he navigates brutal circumstances that no boy should know.
The Certificate in my Father's & Uncle 's, both WWII Navy. Uncle was a Frogman in the South Pacific and Charter Member of the U.S. Navy Frogman & S.E.A.L. Assoc., was a Geat Touch & beautiful.
Only issue was with the certificate and the names. I think the printer cut of a "I" as it states WWI when it should be WWII. (Pretty sure Print error and have requested another Certificate.
Those wo work and give their heart and soul to preserving this hallowed site as well as all other parts of the Park do a fantastic job and deserved to be recognized.
I bought this pin as a gift for my brother to put on the Navy baseball cap I also bought him. It is well made and I like that I am helping support the Historic Park Service at the same time. He loves both the cap and the pin.
I use this mug in the morning for my coffee. It keeps it hot for longer than other types of mugs. I like that it’s pottery and I like the way it is glazed. And reasonably priced.
